Managing Disk Status

Managing Disk Status

Disks can have different statuses in Disk Status based on their current state.

Status Types

Active

The disk is operational and regularly reporting metrics. This is the normal state for a healthy, monitored disk.

Missing

The disk has not reported metrics for an extended period. This could indicate:

  • The server or agent is offline
  • The disk has been physically removed
  • A connectivity issue between the agent and Disk Status

A warning banner appears on the disk detail page for missing disks.

Removed

The disk has been manually marked as removed from monitoring. This is used for disks that have been intentionally taken out of service.

Marking a Disk as Removed

If a disk is no longer in use:

  1. Navigate to the disk detail page
  2. Click Mark as Removed
  3. Confirm the action

This action:

  • Changes the disk status to "Removed"
  • Records the removal timestamp
  • Stops alerts from being generated for this disk

Plan Limits

Your subscription plan determines how many disks you can monitor. Only Active and Missing disks count towards your limit. Removed disks do not count.

If you reach your disk limit:

  • New disks will not be added to monitoring
  • You will see a warning message
  • Consider marking unused disks as removed or upgrading your plan
